Boca De Cielo

We have an apartment now by the sea. It is called Boca De Cielo which means "Mouth of Heaven". It reminds me of the verse from Psalm 84. “Better is one day on your courts than thousands elsewhere.”
It seems fitting to be here in this season where many have spoke refreshment and restoration over us after 28 years of being in ministry.
I am excited about our new place to live. It is a blessing and I feel so strongly that part of this blessing will be how we share it with those around us. So far we’ve had the homeschooling co-op come and use the pool for their last day of school term! Then Matt had some of the students from the internship come and discuss theology whilst sitting in the spa.
On Wednesday we hosted a small troupe of neighbourhood kids who come from the roughest families. Drugs and prostitution are their daily surrounds. A family we met who live down the road, have picked up this ministry from an American man who had been going into the neighbourhood and working with the kids on their schooling. Since covid started none of them have had any school. They are trying to secure the community centre for a space to restart the ministry but sadly red tape is holding them up. Their application to use the building has been thrown on a pile a mile high. We are praying it rises to the top quickly.
So on Wednesday the kids came over to use the pool. The water was very cold but that didn’t deter them. I don’t know if they’ve ever swum in a pool before. They loved it. Their teeth were chattering and lips blue but they stayed in for 2 hours. We served them chocolate cupcakes that Annie had made which they devoured!
We shared that the reason we had them over was because we love God and we wanted them to know that he loves them. He sent us here to tell them. There were lots of hugs and 'Gracias’ as they headed out. I pray that when they lay their heads down at night, they remember the time they went to the “Mouth of Heaven” pool and tasted the goodness of God. We are but such a small piece of the puzzle. Yet we are here. Sharing the blessings around.
I am excited to see who else God brings across our threshold. I believe it will be a gathering place for cups of tea, home cooked meals, conversation, prayer and worship. Watch this space! Kate
