Madigan's Blog
YWAM Mexico

I went there originally after feeling a strong pull one night at the headlands of Bondi. We were always praying up there, every Wednesday night for the city. This night we were praying about the Sydney Mardi Gras. I knew they have a Mardi Gras in Mazatlan called Carnival because I had heard great stories from my brother Greg and his wife Harmony, about the YWAM outreaches. I shared about my idea to go and join the team over there and I had 4 keen takers. We met as a team to prepare each week. We raised and saved our...
Reflections on Fundraising for Mission at 50 years old

I got paid on Tuesday. Happens like clockwork. Work ten days over the fortnight and then on every second Tuesday night money appears in my main account and mortgage account and bills get paid. Sometimes I don’t even think about it. I don’t think about the comfort, the normality, and the security. But I thought hard about it this Tuesday as I realised I have only three said Tuesdays left. A few months ago, we made the decision to resign my job and move into full time mission in Mexico in 2022 and 2023. To move from secure Tuesdays...
The Preparing

As I was thinking about what to write for my next blog, I got the words for the title: The Preparing. The next stage in our journey is to prepare. I count this as the easiest stage, at least the easiest emotional stage. Fuelled by adrenaline and excitement of an adventure and a new future. Dreaming of riding along the Malecon, and doing my uni work on the roof while looking out onto the ocean. Sitting around a table as a beautiful symphony of languages collide in a choir of chatter. Looking out the plane window as I fly above...
We're moving to Mexico

“We’re moving to Mexico” it’s a phrase you don’t hear that often. Definitely not a phrase my friends ever expected to hear. But the Madigan’s never do anything expected, do we? One of the first vivid memories I have as a child was walking through the door to our apartment building in Bondi. We moved to Bondi when I was three years old to plan a church. That was the first crazy move my parents made. Well, that I remember (I’m sure they did some wild things in their hay days). All this to say, are any of us really...
Bienvenido a Casa

It’s amazing how God works. One of my favourite verses is: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 NIV How true that has been over the course of my life. I love how God crafts all the pieces together. How He threads the chord and stitches together each intricate piece of the patchwork of our lives. The darks and the lights. The jagged and the smooth. Designs coming together to create the masterpiece. God begins at the start. Piece by piece we grow and develop. Towards that which was...
