On Thursdays everyone from the YWAM base, regardless of their work duty or status as a student or leader, goes out to do ministry in the local community. The other morning I was on worship and I woke up 6:30am. The moon was still up shining out over the water and it may as well have been middle of the night it was so dark. By the time I got up to the YWAM base to start rehearsing at 7 am I could see the sun’s first rays shining up above the buildings so I snuck over to watch the sunrise before the soundcheck. We got out of the boat and we were walking towards the beach, however we had to climb across the rocks to get there because the tide was high. We were going to spend some time hanging out as a group. I’m always bringing up the rear and one of the other tourists ahead of us turned back to walk around the other way because the waves were high and it was tricky to climb over the rocks to the beach. The other night the storm came in the middle of the night and it was so loud it shook the building. I looked out across the deserted scene below. Palm trees were being whipped up by the wind. Rain howling down. Then I saw a loan figure walking out in the storm. They were wearing what seemed like a plastic garbage bag as a rain coat. Mexican Standoff

On Saturday morning we woke up to Jesse being violently ill. He was visiting from Australia, and while it was beautiful having him visit, he was in a terrible condition. Kate called our new GP and he said he could come in and see him straight away. A few scans later and Jesse was scheduled for an emergency appendectomy. We were incredibly thankful for such quick medical care and that it hadn’t burst.   Jesse had secured travel insurance before he left so we were able to access some great care in a modern private hospital.
